"The War Between Humanism and Christian Culture"
Our once Christian nation is spiraling downwards into a pagan culture at a dizzying pace. The once unthinkable and scandalous has now become commonplace. Pornography, once hidden under store countertops in the seedier sections of town, is now accessible to all via internet pornography, a lucrative multi-billion dollar industry. Humanism and moral relativism is being preached in our public school systems, colleges, the entertainment arena and through activist judges who legislate their choice of morality rather than interpret law. Every vestige of Christianity is being stripped away from the public sector. We see it this time of year as major stores and businesses shun calling anything “CHRISTmas.” Only the pressure from fed-up consumers is making them backpaddle from bowing down to the ACLU and the cultural elite, and restoring the title Christmas in place of the “all-inclusive” term “holidays.”
Why such hatred and intolerance for the name of Jesus or anythink Christian? It's very simple. The name of Jesus is above every name that is named: “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth (Hell), and that every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2: 9-11). The knee of every atheist, ACLU lawyer, criminal, the devil and his demons, and every saint WILL bow at His name. Bow now or bow later in Hell, but we will ALL bow and confess His Lordship.
America is in a great spiritual battle for her very soul. The horror and tragedy we see nightly on the evening news is the natural outcome of humanism. Humanism rejects God and His holy laws, calling His laws restraints that hinder its freedoms. The Bible exposes this ages-old struggle of the will of fallen man against His Creator: “Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His anointed, saying, ‘Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords from us” (Psalms 2:1-3). God is not pacing anxiously in Heaven, wringing His hands because sinful men foolishly reject Him and His laws. Quite the contrary! “He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall hold them in derision. Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure: ‘Yet I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion” (Psalm 2: 4-6). King David the Psalmist declared the victory of God over His enemies and the enemies of His people: “Arise, O Lord! Do not let men prevail; let the nations be judged in Your sight. Put them in fear, O Lord, that the nations may know themselves to be but mere men. Selah!” (Psalm 9: 19-20).
The humanists have done everything in their power to delete our rich Christian heritage from the history books in modern, secular education. Cutting off the history of a nation cuts the current generation from it spiritual moorings and that generation is lost at sea without a vision or hope for its future. When man makes himself his own god and the measure of all things rather than submit to our all-wise Creator, death and destruction are the results: “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life" (Galatians 6: 7-8). Not only does humanism justify itself, it also seeks the moral high ground against Christianity, calling itself good and the Christian culture evil. The foundational lie of humanism is that there was no fall, and man is not a sinner, but basically “good.” The humanist is a slave to his own reasoning, desires, sins and emotions. Fallen man can justify anything. Moral relativism is a slippery slope to destruction, as witnessed during the Holocaust of World War II.
Only the eternal truth of God’s Word can combat the forces of darkness that have been unleashed in the world, and America in particular, in these last days before the return of the Lord. If we do not embrace the truth, that is, Jesus Christ, we will be given over to a deadly deception and doomed to spiritual darkness forever: “The coming of the lawless one (Antichrist) is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. For this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all shall be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness” (2 Thessalonians 2: 9-12). You may ask like Pontius Pilate asked Christ 2,000 years ago, “What is truth?” Truth is not a philosophy, a garnering of facts or a doctrine. Truth is a Person, the Person of Jesus Christ: “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). Believing anything or anyone outside of Jesus Christ for redemption is a lie. The world hates the Truth because in His light their wicked deeds are exposed and they love darkness rather than light (John 3: 19-20).
Much ground has been lost in this war due to a lukewarm, compromising Church that craves “acceptance” from the world rather than fulfilling the Great Commission that God has mandated: Preach the gospel and seek to save the lost. There is no demilitarized zone in this spiritual battle: we are either on the Lord’s side, or we are against Him. Dear Reader, today is the day of salvation Call on Jesus. There is no other way, nor any other name given under heaven by which men may be saved (Acts 4:12).
“Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you and His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to you light, and kings to the brightness of your rising” (Isaiah 60: 1-3).
