"Make All Things New"
by: Jean Wahl
We all like to have NEW things…NEW clothes, a NEW car, A NEW house, etc.
The Bible promises us NEW things that are so much better than the transient, material things that the world has to offer.
At the last supper Jesus spoke of “the NEW covenant in my blood, which is shed for you…” (Luke 22:20). This fulfilled a prophecy in the Old Testament … “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a NEW covenant with the house of Israel…” (Jeremiah 31:31). Part of the NEW covenant is… “a NEW commandment I give unto you, that you love one another…” (John 13:34).
Hebrews 10:20 says that Jesus has provided us with a “NEW and better way..” And how does Jesus do this? It begins with the NEW birth. Jesus said “…except a man be born aNEW, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). And after we’re born again and receive the Lord into our life, we’re given a NEW nature and told to “put on the NEW man, who is reNEWed in knowledge after the image of Him, who created it” (Col. 3:10). The Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians in II Cor. 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ he is a NEW creature; old things are passed away, behold, all things are become NEW”.
Have you been born aNEW? Are you a NEW creature? If not, you can be! Romans 10:9 says “That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved”.
In the book of Revelation which the Apostle John wrote, we’re informed that, once in Heaven believers will be given a NEW name. (Rev. 2:17) The promised paradise of the Bible is called the NEW Jerusalem. (Rev. 3:12) To sum it all up, John reports, “And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold I make all things NEW”….(Rev. 21:5).
Since this is the beginning of a NEW year, shouldn’t you take advantage of God’s offer to make you NEW?
