“33 Years of Destruction”
Saturday, January 21, 2006 marked the 33rd anniversary of Roe v Wade, the landmark case that decriminalized abortion in America. Legalized abortion has become the most divisive issue in our country since slavery and civil rights. Rather than being adopted as law through the legislative process, nine black-robed Supreme Court Justices bypassed the consent of the governed and created rather than interpreted law. The “right” for a woman to kill her unborn child was never written into our Constitution, and the framers of our Constitution would be outraged to see it so twisted. As a result of creating this “right to choose” (how that can be derived from the right of privacy is inexplicable), over 58 million babies have been murdered in their mothers’ wombs. God is not pleased, and their shed, innocent blood cries out to God for justice and pollutes our land.
Abortion is a most lucrative industry, and has corrupted our legal system, our medical system, and even our churches. Even now, while new Supreme Court Justices are being appointed to the bench, the biggest factor is abortion. A judge’s abortion stance, once criticized as a “litmus test,” is now being used by many pro-abortion senators. Ted Kennedy has shamelessly attacked Samuel Alito, trying to get him to “confess” his personal, pro-life convictions. The pro-aborts are scared because they know that abortion rights were invented and brought into our laws through the “back door.” Even many in the pro-abortion camp have admitted that the way abortion was brought into law was bad government.
Ironically, Norma McCorvey, the “Roe” of Roe v Wade, became a Christian and recanted her work for the abortion empire. Flip Benham, an Operation Rescue minister, led Norma McCorvey to Christ, and she is now a powerful pro-life voice. Many pro-lifers are women who have been exploited and hurt by abortion. They seek to warn other women of the harm abortion causes, as well as help rescue the unborn. One of the most powerful, pro-life voices in Washington is that of Carol Everett, a one-time director of several abortion mills in Texas. After selling 35,000 abortions, she had seen it all: women dying and maimed for life from botched abortions, doctors in hospitals covering up for the mistakes of abortionists as their injured clients are admitted in for emergency surgeries, doctors falsifying medical records to cover up botched abortions, and even doctors performing “abortions” on women who weren’t pregnant, all for greed and the love of money. Her compelling book, “Blood Money: Getting Rich Off a Woman’s Right to Choose,” details the corruption and callousness of the abortion industry. Carol states: “We did not discuss alternatives to abortion unless the woman forced us to. Our counselors were paid generously to sell a product, and that’s what they did.” So much for a woman’s right to choose!
God is raising up men and women for this battle for the unborn who are making an impact on the seared conscience of our nation. It is heartening to see so many youths joining the ranks to save the unborn. They have the faith to see this Goliath of abortion put down, rather than resign themselves to concede that abortion is the “law of the land,” as many in the older generation have done. Another force to be reckoned with is Mark Crutcher of Lifetalk Ministry in Denton, Texas. Mark is hitting the abortionists where it hurts them most—in their pocketbooks! Mark has organized lawyers and doctors who are donating their time and talents to fight unscrupulous abortionists that are hurting women. Litigation over very real grievances suffered by women who are fighting back have put many abortionists “out of business” with their medical licenses revoked. The regulation of abortion clinics and abortionists is non-existent, and it is time for the abortionists to be held accountable for the damage done to women, as well as the unsanitary conditions in many abortion mills. If you or someone you know has been hurt by abortion, contact Mark Crutcher for legal advice and aid.
The abortion industry is a house of cards with a faulty foundation, based on lies and greed. The abortion industry has never been concerned with the welfare of women, but rather exploits their fear when they are faced with an unwanted pregnancy. Abortion hurts women and always kills babies. “Pro-life Answers to Pro-choice Arguments” by Randy Alcorn is an excellent resource book that exposes the rhetoric of the abortion-minded with thought provoking truth and logic. “A Handbook on Abortion” by Dr. and Mrs. J.C. Willke outlines the medical dangers and lasting psychological trauma that women risk by undergoing abortion. And let’s not forget the greatest book of all, The Holy Bible, and what God thinks about child sacrifice and the value of human life.
“If men fight, and hurt a woman with child…if any lasting harm follows, then you shall give life for life…” (Exodus 21: 22-23).
“My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them” (Psalm 139: 15-16).
“Deliver those who are drawn toward death, and hold back those stumbling to slaughter. If you say, ‘Surely we did not know this,’ does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?” (Proverbs 24: 11-12)
“The Lord hates…hands that shed innocent blood” (Proverbs 6: 16-17).
